What is abortion?

Abortion is the medical process of ending a pregnancy so that it does not result in the birth of a baby. Sometimes health care professionals may refer to an abortion as a termination of pregnancy. They will reach this decision if they believe there is a greater risk to the woman's mental or physical health if she continues with the pregnancy than if she has an abortion. The health professionals can also take social circumstances into account when making this decision. Besides, a chance that baby will have medical condition also will be taken into account

Background of Abortion

Abortion has been in existence since the Ancient times and practiced by woman all over the world.

From primitive potions to barbaric tools and odd instruments, women resorted to painful, humiliating procedures in order to induce a miscarriage.

2600 BC, there was a first recorded recipe for an abortion producing drug which proves that abortion starts as early as that.

In late 1800s, women healers in Western Europe and the U.S. provided abortions and trained other women to do so, without legal prohibitions

Researched on WHY women want To abort baby

• Birth control (contraceptive) failure. Over half of all women who have an abortion used a contraceptive method during the month they became pregnant. ⁹

• Inability to support or care for a child.

• To end an unwanted pregnancy.

• To prevent the birth of a child with birth defects or severe medical problems. Such defects are often unknown until routine second-trimester tests are done.

• Pregnancy resulting from rape or incest. Every year, about 13,000 women choose abortion after suffering rape or incest. ⁹

• Physical or mental conditions that endanger the woman's health if the pregnancy is continued.

As we all know that, ultrasound and medical technology have proven that infant has human life. The main reasons that we should against abortions is because it is a religious issue.

Some may claim that the unwanted pregnancies will grow to be unwanted and battered children. This may not be a good reason because abortion does not seem to decrease the explosion of battered children and child abuse.

In some countries, the governments mandate abortion to control population. However, this will be not an accurate action because in US, there are far too many old folks to take care of and rather not enough babies being born. So this will cause an imbalanced in social.

Besides, the argument for abortion for an assault rape pregnancy continues and remains approved by two- third of the citizen. Actually, this reason cannot be accepted at all because we should not kill an innocent baby for the crime of its father. Baby has not wrong anything.

So, we should against abortions! There has no reason for us to support it.

Why should we against abortions? Religion factors:

• Christian

Christians believe that baby is a present from God where sons are a heritage from Lord; children are a reward from Him.-Psalm 127:3.

“If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall surely be punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine. And if any mischief follow, then thou shall give life for life..." --Exodus 21:22-25.

• Buddha

Buddhists believed that killing a fetus implies killing a human being because fetus does has life, heart beat as human being. According to Vinaya, if a woman is suggested to get an abortion, she will banish from the Sangha, who has broke the four fundamental rules of monastic conduct.
